the cyclist was struck from behind while heading south on JFK Boulevard on July 24 around 12:30 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
The car did not stop and continued south on JFK, where it struck a parked vehicle as well, Suarez said.
The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he currently remains with injuries that were considered life-threatening as of Aug. 2, authorities said.
Police believe the car may have been a maroon sedan.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this incident.
